| HAVING AN ENGAGEMENT PARTY
|
| Once you make the big move (provided she or
he says yes) you'll want to celebrate this momentous occasion with family and friends.
Why not plan an engagement party? After all, planning this wedding is going
to take a lot of time and energy... You'd better have fun while you still have the
opportunity. The next time you get to let it all hang out might be at your wedding
reception!! Here are some ideas and guidelines for planning your engagement party. |
- The party can be hosted by anyone involved... The Bride or
Groom's parents, friends of the Bride and Groom, or the engaged couple themselves.
|
- The party can be at a house or at a restaurant or banquet
facility. House parties tend to be more relaxed, fun, and are certainly less
expensive.
|
- The party can be at any time of day. Have a brunch,
lunch, dinner, or cocktail party. It's totally up to you.
|
- Make sure that the party is scheduled for a date that both
of you are available.
|
- Make up your guest list carefully. This is an
important event and you don't want to leave anyone out. You should invite out of
town relatives and friends, even if you know they won't be able to attend.
|
- Phone calls, email, or formal invitations are all
acceptable.
|
- Tell your guests not to bring gifts. If gifts are
given (and you know some people will insist on it) accept them and remember to mail a
thank you letter after the party.
|
- Remember to thank the hosts after the party is over. A
gift as a token of your appreciation is a good idea.
